Well, I missed out last week but you can’t keep me away too long from Song Lyric Sunday! This week Helen of This Thing Called Life One Word At A Time picked “Lost” as the theme and I think it is a good one. Make sure you check out her blog if you are interested in joining in on the fun or just to read other interpretations of the theme.
There are two (that I know of) songs with the title “Lost In Love”. One is by 10CC; however, the one I chose is by Air Supply.
Soft Pop band Air Supply hailed from Australia where the song was released in 1979. It reached number 13 on the Kent Report. In 1980 it was released in the United States where it spent four weeks at number three on the Billboard Top 100 and six weeks at number one on the adult contemporary charts.
For me, the song had personal meaning. About the time it came out I was dumped from my first real boyfriend and I was unsure of the career path I had chosen. So, I was feeling lost in love and in life. But the song was rather soothing and one of my favorites of the time.

Lost In Love
I realized the best part of love is the thinnest slice
And it don’t count for much
But I’m not letting go
I believe there’s still much to believe in
So lift your eyes if you feel you can
Reach for a star and I’ll show you a plan
I figured it out
What I needed was someone to show me
You know you can’t fool me
I’ve been loving you too long
It started so easy
You want to carry on
(Carry on)
(Now I’m) Lost in love and I don’t know much
Was I thinking aloud and fell out of touch?
But I’m back on my feet
And eager to be what you wanted
So lift your eyes if you feel you can
Reach for a star and I’ll show you a plan
I figured it out
What I needed was someone to show me
You know you can’t fool me
I’ve been loving you too long
It started so easy
You want to carry on
(Carry on)
Lost in love and I don’t know much
Was I thinking aloud and I fell out of touch?
But I’m back on my feet
And eager to be what you wanted
You know you can’t fool me
I’ve been loving you too long
It started so easy
You want to carry on
(Carry on)
Lost in love and I don’t know much
Was I thinking aloud and I fell out of touch?
But I’m back on my feet
And eager to be what you wanted
Now I’m lost, lost in love
Lost in love, lost in love
Now I’m lost, I’m lost in love
Lost in love, lost in love
Lost in love, lost in love, lost in love
Lost in love, lost in love, lost in love

This group got such a bad rap from ‘purists” but I still love their music.
Aye! – Remember the first heartbreak all TOO well. I think it’s a gauge that sticks with us for life.
Great share! 🙂

Yeah, I love all their music. Sometimes you need the slightly sappy stuff! Well they do say “the first cut is the deepest” and I guess it is true. LOL

The first song that came to my mind was David Gates, Lost without your love.
Lost and all alone
I always thought that I could make it on my own
But since you left I hardly make it through the day
My tears get in the way, and I need you back to stay
I wonder through the night
And search the world for the words to make it right
All I want is the way it used to be
With you here close to me
And I’ve got to make you see
That I’m lost with out your love
Life without you isn’t worth the trouble of
I’m as helpless as a ship without a wind
A touch without a feel
I can’t believe its real
And someday soon I’ll wake and find my heart won’t have to break
Yes, I’m lost with out your love
Life without you isn’t worth the trouble of
All I want is just the way it used to be
I need you here with me
Oh darling can’t you see
If we had love before we can have it back once more

Yes, that is a very good one. It did Gates’ “Goodbye Girl” a few weeks ago!
