When I first saw that Helen Vahdati’s theme choice for the week was “soul”, I was a bit overwhelmed. There are so many incredible songs that fit. If you want to participate or see other great choices for the theme, be sure to check out Helen’s blog at This Thing Called Life One Word At A Time.
So, how did I make my decision? I just went through all the songs I knew fit the category and when “My Soul Sings” by the British Contemporary Christian band, Delirious? jumped out at me I knew it was the correct one. The song was on their final album of the same name which was recorded live at their final concert in London in September of 2008.
It is a simple love song with straightforward lyrics that hit you right down in your own soul. Even lead singer Martin Smith choked up when singing it in the video (which is from that last live show). It was a love song to the Lord as well as to their fans.
Lydia!
My Soul Sings
Open my eyes and see
The wonderful mystery of love
Falling into You
I’m drawn to the gravity of love, love, love
We’re standing still
In a moment of eternity
Where worlds collide
And I feel the breath of heaven over me
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings how I love You
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings how I love You
Open the page and see
The wonderful history of love, love
I start and end with You
I’m pulled to the gravity of love, love, love
We’re standing still
In a moment of eternity
Where worlds collide
And I feel the breath of heaven over me
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings, oh I love You
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings how I love You
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings, oh I love You
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings how I love You
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings how I love You
My soul sings, my soul sings
My soul sings how I love You
