I started doing last week’s challenge; however, a lot was going on health and life-wise and I really wasn’t feeling that the song was totally right for the topic of “search”. I had most of the post ready, which is great because the song is much better suited to this week’s topic of “find/found”.
If you would like to find out more about the challenge, would like to participate, or want to see more entries for this week, be sure to check out Helen’s site at A Little Thing Called Life One Word At A Time.
I had a few songs on my mind last week before I chose U2’s classic hit. My main reason for settling on this one is that for much of my life it was my theme song. However, now I am finding I am right where I am supposed to be in terms of faith, health, life, purpose, and everything else.
The song came out in May of 1987 as the second single on U2’s album “The Joshua Tree”. It has a gospel feel with choir-like backing vocals and lyrics that speak of searching for something more – “I believe in the Kingdom come”; “I have spoken with the tongue of angels”; “You broke the bonds and you loosed the chains”.
I think this is the first song that really drew me to U2. After that, I couldn’t get enough of their sound, messages and the band members themselves.

“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”
I have climbed the highest mountain
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you
I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her fingertips
It burned like fire
This burning desire
I have spoken with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
I believe in the kingdom come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
Well yes I’m still running
You broke the bonds and you
Loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Of my shame
Of my shame
You know I believed it
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for…
